Japan Air Pass

JAL & ANA

Below is a list of Japan air passes available to travelers who are residing outside Japan. Some passes are only available to travelers who fly to Japan with specific airlines. A summary of the available air passes:



JAL "Oneworld Yokoso/Visit Japan Fare" Airpass

Allows travelers to fly within Japan for 10,000yen per sector (minimum one sector, maximum 5 sectors). 300yen for insurance and 5% for Japan domestic tax are added per sector; furthermore, some extra taxes from the travel agency emitting the tickets can apply. Available for use between the 42 cities nationwide served by JAL, JAL Express (JEX) and Japan TransOcean Air (JTA). This is a new pass from April 2007, it was called before JAL “Yokoso JAPAN”.

Eligibility:
Travelers must reside outside Japan, purchase the JAL "Oneworld Yokoso/Visit Japan Fare" prior to travel, and flight to and from Japan with a Oneworld carrier.

Where and when to buy:
Travel agency or Japan Airlines agencies outside Japan. Pass can be bought 2 months before the first domestic sector. The first flight has to be booked immediately, and the following route has to be fixed (you can decide later of the date and time of the other internal flights, but you can not ask for re-routing).


JAL "Welcome to Japan Fare"

Allows travelers to fly within Japan for 13,200yen per sector (minimum two sectors, maximum 5 sectors). 5% for Japan domestic tax is added per sector; furthermore, some extra taxes from the travel agency emitting the tickets can apply. Available for use between the 42 cities nationwide served by JAL, JAL Express (JEX) and Japan TransOcean Air (JTA).

Eligibility:
Travelers must reside outside Japan and purchase the JAL "Welcome to Japan Fare" prior to travel. But they can use any airline to flight to and from Japan.

Where and when to buy:
Travel agency or Japan Airlines agencies outside Japan. Pass can be bought 2 months before the first domestic sector. The first flight has to be booked immediately, and the following route has to be fixed (you can decide later of the date and time of the other internal flights, but you can not ask for rerouting).

Japan domestic tax is exempt for a domestic flight which connects within 24 hours to/from an international flight.
AIRPORT
FACILITY FEE		 Japan domestic passenger facility charge JPY 100 applicable (per adult and/or child) for each arrival and departure at Haneda and Kita-Kyusyu. (JPY 300 applicable at Nagoya.)
ELIGIBILITY International travel to/via Japan must be on any carrier. International travel to/via Japan must be on ONEWORLD partner carrier.
Residence must be outside of Japan. International airfare must be round trip. the journey must be to/via Japan from outside Japan. Limited to one YOKOSO/WELCOME TO JAPAN fare airpass per international ticket. International ticket must be presented at the time of check-in.
VALIDITY Minimum Stay – None.
Maximum Stay – 2 months from departure date of first domestic flight.
Japan domestic travel must be on/before 31-MAR-10. (NRT/NGO sectors are NOT permitted for these fares.)

RESERVATIONS All the sector must be confirmed before the departure for the ticket issuance. Booking must be at least one week before the international flight.
DATE CHANGE The first sector must not be changed under any condition.
Exception: For the first domestic sector, passenger may stand-by at the airport for an earlier flight on the same day as originally booked. Remaining sector may be changed at any time within 60 days from original departure. Also please be aware of blackout dates above.
REROUTING Not permitted.
CANCELLATION
REFUND		 Totally unused pass – Refund the fare paid less 5,000yen
Partially unused pass – Refund the difference between the fare paid and the applicable normal domestic fare for the portions used.

Star Alliance "Japan Airpass"

Allows travelers to fly within Japan for 11,550yen per sector (minimum one sector, maximum 5 sectors), including the Japanese consumption tax. Some extra taxes from the travel agency emitting the tickets can apply. Available for use between 73 destinations served by ANA and Air Nippon.

Eligibility:
Travelers must reside outside Japan, purchase the Star Alliance "Japan Airpass" prior to travel, and flight to and from Japan with ANA, ANK or a Star Alliance Partner.

Where and when to buy:
Travel agency or ANA agencies outside Japan. Pass can be bought 2 months before the first domestic sector. The first flight has to be booked immediately, and the following route has to be fixed (you can decide later of the date and time of the other internal flights, but you can not ask for re-routing).


ANA "Visit Japan Fare"

Allows travelers to fly within Japan for 12,600yen per sector (minimum two sectors, maximum 5 sectors), including the Japanese consumption tax. Some extra taxes from the travel agency emitting the tickets can apply. Available for use between 73 destinations served by ANA and Air Nippon.

Eligibility:
Travelers must reside outside Japan and purchase the ANA "Visit Japan Fare" prior to travel. But they can use any airline to flight to and from Japan.
